May Wines We Love

May Wines We Love!!!

Sparkling

Three Young Punks "Naked On Roller Skates" Sparkling Shiraz 2006 (Australia) $19.99 - the husband, wife and 3rd Young Punk at Adelina are at it again! Drink -n- Stick, Quickie, Passion Has Red Lips, The Fire in her Eyes......all are their wines....all are Pulp Fiction novels....and slightly racy wine labels. Fortunately, the wine inside is REALLY good! BTW, the Some Young Punks have Ph.D's in subjects such as yeast strains. Their primary winery is Adelina.

White wines

Meibo Yowanotsuki Sake (Japan) $16.99 - I know next to nothing about Sake! Doug and Cat are excited to have this line-up of Sakes.......it has A LOT to do with how finely the rice grain is milled.

In Fine White 2007 (France) $11.99 - BRAND-NEW to Maine! Full-bodied white from the Cotes du Ventoux. Clairette, Ugni Blanc, Grenache Blanc and Bourboulenc grapes. Yes....we all drink these grape varietals daily!

Chilensis Chardonnay 2006 (Chile) $7.99 - Yes, $7.99. I've done this at an event for the Freeport Conservation Trust, a tasting at Cole Haan, and a tasting at H.G. Beausoleil. Huge hit at all.....

Crinella Sauvignon Blanc 2005 (California) $19.99 - This is EXCELLENT! Aromas and flavors of lemon grass, hay, tropical fruit and mint. Soft feel at the start. Wonderful acidity. Crisp, LONG finish! Elegant wine with some oomph! 100% cold-fermented in stainless steel. Aged for 3 months “sur-lie” adding a soft feel. 814 cases made. 50% of the grapes from the same clone as grown at Chateau d’Yquem. Brand-new to Maine! Sustainably farmed. Food pairing - An ultimate seafood wine! Also, lighter poultry dishes, etc.

Rose Wine

Chateau Grande Cassagne Rose 2007 (France) $11.99 - This winery is well-known for their superb reds, but their best-kept secret is this rose! Blend of 60% Syrah, 35% Grenache and 5% Mourvedre. Vines are 40+ years old. Just a little time on the skins for color! Their white was a HUGE hit as a wine of the month a couple months ago!

Red Wines

In Fine Rouge Cotes du Ventoux 2006 (France) $11.99 - BRAND-NEW to Maine! Full-bodied red from the Cotes du Ventoux. 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah.

Danjean-Berthoux Givry 1er Cru 2004 (France) $24.99 - This is stunningly AWESOME! Quite possibly the best wine to linger over for 2-3 hours I've had in the last year! Goes to show you that Burgundy produces some GREAT wine in non-2005 years!

Vriesenhof Kallista 2001 (South Africa) $14.99 - I need to visit here! This wine will STICK to your glass! It has weight and depth. You have to try this!
