Cool Wines I've Just Tasted!
Branko Collio D.O.C. Tocai Friulano 2005 (Italy) Reg. $26.99 Sale $16.99 - Tocai Friulano is the grape - it's indigenous to Friuli in northeastern Italy. No relation to Tokaji of Hungary or Tokay d'Alsace, which is also be found in this region. Real lush at the front...rich. This is minerally and spicy. Feels soft and round in the middle. Finishes crisp and spicy. The distributor is clearancing out this obscure, but wonderful producer....and we're buying what we can. The name of this grape will change to just Friulano soon due to a name battle with Hungary that Italy lost. It's call Sauvignon Vert in Chile. This will age well for years.
Cederberg Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 (South Africa) - big, bold and brassy Cab....smoke, dark berries, earth, minerals.....5th generation winery.
Fattoria di Bibbiani Chianti 2005 (Italy) - from Small Vineyards Imports. Only 2,800 cases made. Classic;y good chianti with dusty tannins, red plums, a little earth....perfect!
I own a store, Freeport Cheese & Wine, in Freeport, Maine. We sell wine, beer, cheese, specialty foods, candy, glassware and more.
We specialize in small producers, be it wine, beer or food.
If we don't like it, we don't sell it.
I use e-mail a lot to tell customers about wines and other things...many of our customers tell me they love my e-mails....so, I thought I'd post my e-mails on a blog....so this is why I created this blog.
If you are ever in Freeport, please stop in and say hello.
